Adroddiad afonnydd Gymdeithas S.G. a LL.
S.G. & LL. Angling Society's River report

River fishing still remains in the doldrums, no significant rain has fallen, although we are experiencing some heavy prolonged showers river levels have only risen about three inches, Some sewin have started to move into the lower Seiont but the unseasonably cold weather serves to keep night fishers at home, myself included.

The lower Llyfni is only producing the odd small sewin, here again we’ll have to wait for a significant rise in water levels for some action.

The only sport has been on our lakes, Dywarchen, although being regularly stocked is very slow to produce good catches, very few bag limits are being recorded, again this is down to the cold weather. Work on the rearing on facility at Crawia Hatchery is now complete, so we can look forward to an improved stocking policy from now on – many thanks to the few who worked so hard to build this great facility.

Llyn Nantlle at 320 feet above sea level is really putting up a fine show, fishing here has been excellent all season, as fishing is by boat of which only three plus the disabled wheely boat are available for use, pressure therefore is very light. Permits are available at Cwellyn Arms, Rhyd Ddu – a 1st class pint as well to finish the day off.

Work continues on the Melin y Cim renovation, we can now see light at the end of the tunnel and completion is not now far off. Our neighbours in the village of Pontllyfni have been really fantastic in putting up with all the work going on around them. We can show our appreciation when work furnishing is complete.

We’ll be again holding several Introduction to Angling Days and coaching sessions at Llyn Nantlle during August and September 04 these are really popular events look at our website www.hgt.gwynedd.gov.uk/sg/Default.htm for dates and further details.

Prospects – Once we get appreciable rain then there should be great fishing, I’m really looking forward to try some dapping on Nantlle, if I can get my hands in a boat that is.
