Prospects for Salmon for
September and October are excellent on all three rivers provided
we get our overdue share of rain, good numbers of Salmon are showing in both
Caernarfon Bay and Menai Straits.
Fly and spinning when levels are above the marks will undoubtedly
produce fish. Bait fishing not allowed after 7th. October.
Remember also for seasonal permit holders who have returned their
voucher and been issued with a log sheet, there is a fly only
extension on a catch and release basis until 31st October on the
Seiont from Pont Rhythallt Bridge to the sea.
Fishing also continues for
rainbows only at Llyn Dywarchen until 30th November.
Total count of fish over the
Llyfni counter to date 13th Sept exceeds 900 fish a good
number of these are over 1 metre in length, largest salmon to
date from this river at 14lbs 8 oz fell to John Hewitt from
Southampton on 20th Aug. his son also landed a 5lb 8oz sewin on
the same day. Both fish came fron the Glanrafon area.
Charr
fishing should produce some good
bags until 17 October, spinning from anchored boats at the top of
the lake is strongly recommended, believe it or not a No. 5 Mepp
is the in thing. Allow your spinner to sink and reel in slowly.
If you don't catch and I'll be surprised if you don't, go and
visit the Bistro on the High Street at Llanberis, you can usually
find them on the menu there during the season, highly
recommended, if I send enough there I might get a brandy next
time I visit !!
