MODERN APPRENTICESHIPS

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Modern Apprenticeships offer a quality alternative route to further education. The advantage being the opportunity of gaining paid employment whilst undertaking training. You need to be a high calibre young person with the potential to achieve National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ's) Level 3 and beyond. Although the industry does not specify an entry qualification, CELTEC consider it desirable that you have 3 GCSE passes at a minimum grade C.

The employers are a key part of the design of the Information Technology Modern Apprenticeship. Employers may have their own specific requirements.

BROAD PRINCIPLES

• Achievement of an NVQ at Level 3 with NVQ Level 2 en route
• Development of Core Skills (communication, working with others, improving own performance, application of numbers and problem solving).
• Areas covered include; use of IT, service processing / user support and systems development

The Information Technology Modern Apprenticeship was developed by the Information Technology Industry Training Organisation in collaboration with TEC's, employers, Careers Services and Government.
