A Fishing experience in the Heart of Snowdonia

Seiont

Afon Seiont flows for 20km from Llyn Padarn to the menai straits at Caernarfon, where the river estuary stands guarded by the magnificent Caernarfon castle built by Edward 1 to a similar design as the old city fortifications of constantinople. One of the best medium - sized salmon rivers in Wales, providing challenging fishing on chalkstream - type flats at Cwm - Y - Glo to fast rocky reaches leading to long pools and glides. Salmon, Seatrout and Brown trout are caught throughout the river.
The best times are: Brown trout: 3 March to September; Seatrout; mid-May onwards, Salmon: July to close of season on 17 October.

Gwyrfai.

Text Version Afon Gwyrfai, Flowing from the pewter bowl of Llyn Y Gadair and onwards through Llyn Cwellyn, the Gwyrfai meanders for some 10 miles into the Menai Straits, some two miles south of the Seiont estuary. A beautiful, wild and wooded banked river which provides unforgettable fishing from the open flats at Betws Garmon to Waunfawr where the character of the river changes: here it runs fast and deep, its many islands walled by trees, and at first glance this is worming water, but don’t be deceived - here the wet and dry fly can rule supreme with the many fine rising trout. This is a summer river, but seatrout and salmon can be caught up to the season’s end.

Llyfni

Text VersionAFON LLYFNI, The shortest of the three rivers, but without doubt one of the most prolific Seatrout rivers in the Principality. Salmon can also be caught from late April onwards, provided there is sufficient water.

As the river is 9 km long, they only pause for short periods before entering Llyn Nantlle at the top of the system. The river enters Caernarfon bay below the village of Pontllyfni. Here, in the pools directly above the tide, the Seatrout fishing can only be described as excellent.
